And it’s one to be reckoned with, I reckon.
Long time readers of the one you’re reading right now will recognize the name of Curt Evans, whose posts on this blog have revealed him to everyone as a deeply devoted fan (and ace historian) of the Golden Age of Detection.
He’s just started up his own blog, one called The Passing Tramp, and his first post is here.
Why “The Passing Tramp”? From that very first post, Curt explains:
“Ah, the passing tramp! That convenient figure in Golden Age English country house mystery on whom the posh people try to pin the murder of their despised weekend host (the one they themselves all had quite excellent motives for killing). Who could have slipped in through the French windows and clobbered Sir Humphrey Overr-Baring with that bust of Wellington? Why, it must have been a passing tramp, of course!”
Of course! But did you know that there was a “passing tramp” who became one of the era’s unlikeliest series detectives? Follow the link above to read more.

Thanks for the link, Steve.
Tried to say Hello, but the site is asking too much , I’m not one for social networks ,like showing myself scantilly dressed, and heavily inebrieated.

You’re right. I can’t leave a comment either, not without signing up for another account I don’t want.
Curt, if you’re reading this, maybe you can find out how to open the comments up a little.

He may have turned off the Anonymous feature. But you should be able to use the Open ID option, unless that’s not there either. Blogger does have its issues with the comments section all over the internet and tends not to be too friendly with people who don’t have some kind of Google account. A reason many flee and transfer to wordpress or other services.

There should also be a Name/URL means of leaving a comment on Blogger, shouldn’t there?

These $%&&&%$% networks and other big companies, just stifling in greed to make more bucks, and deliver less are getting on my … !
Don’t get me wrong, making money is OK, we all got to live, but if some company is selling $&%&%, or getting to big, it should simply be closed down or taken away.
That would help a lot- pour encourager les autres.
Why is’nt it like here?
Stumble upon the page anywhichway, see something, say something, be answered, all in good spirit .

There isn’t any money involved in these sign-up-to-comment accounts, or at least I don’t think so, since I avoid them.
For me it’s mostly that I don’t need more passwords to forget.
What the screening does, supposedly, is reduce the amount of spam that comes in as would be comments. Most of the spam that comes to M*F is filtered away from me so that I don’t see it, but not all. I get about 20 or 30 spam messages a day that I have to delete myself.
Guess what that means when the power’s off for four or five days? What a mess.

Hey, thanks Steve and Doc. Sorry about the posting issue. I’m still messing about it with the blog, but haven’t done anything with the posting. I’ll try to see what I can do.
Yeah, it’s all free. I just wanted to have some personal internet presence. I will keep posting here too though! Will try to get apiece done this week–if I can squeeze in between eating, etc.!

Posted on the blog two parts of a three part (I think) piece on Edmund Crispin and his 2007 biography.

You’re doing a great job already. Blogging is addictive, you know. You’re going to be hooked pretty soon, and you’ll never be able to stop.

Thanks, Steve, that’s good of you to say.
As I work on my fourth post, I see what you mean also!
You should be able to make comments with open ID, which means, I think you wouldn’t have to register with them or google?
