We got to see her twice in the last two years, which was great: first at the Beacon with Rodney Crowell, and last year at a Town Hall benefit for refugees, with Robert Plant, Buddy Miller, and Steve Earle.

We’re in the boondocks here in central Connecticut, even though Hartford is supposed to be a big city. She once played the next town over, New Britain, in a venue next to a strip club, which I understand displeased her very much. This must have been in the late 70s or early 80s. Judy and I couldn’t go, as I recall, because it was during the week and I was teaching that same night.
She never came close to this area again. I should have cancelled that class!
