We’ve been lucky enough to see Emmylou in concert three times (once with Rodney Crowell) in the last few years. I loved when she talked about coming to New York for the first time as a teenager in the 1960s and working as a packer at a Bohack’s supermarket on Bleecker Street in the Village while trying to get singing jobs.

I kind of doubt that she spent very long packing groceries at a supermarket. I can’t sing a note on key to save my life, but I sure enjoy those who can!
