Hal Blaine, who died last Monday, was the drummer for the group of Hollywood session musician informally known as The Wrecking Crew. Just was listening today to a (repeat) interview he did on NPR several years ago.

If anyone would like to know more about the group, there is a terrific documentary about them that opened in theaters almost exactly four years ago, in March 2015. Jon and I stood in a long line to see it in L.A. when I happened to be visiting there.

There are questions as to whether the “Wrecking Crew” name came then or years later, but there is no doubt of the influence Blaine and the rest had. And yes, the documentary was great.
