As regular visitors to this blog will have noticed, postings have been much sparser than usual this week. It’s been a combination of factors, including some severe weather fatigue (I’m tired of snow!) and a backed-up ice jam in the roof (no serious damage done, I hope).
I also had a Wednesday deadline for my annual trek to see our accountant. Judy and I used to be able to do our taxes ourselves, but with pensions, Social Security only partial taxable (I think) and an investment portfolio that I understand only one line of: Market Value, it’s far too complicated for me to handle any more.
So I’ve had to take a few days off from blogging this past week. They promise me that yesterday’s snow storm will be the last one, and I’m going to believe them. Things should be back to normal in a day or so. There’s a large backlog of reviews and other posts to get caught up on, and I’ll be working my way through it as quickly as I can, starting in the morning.

Good luck, Steve. I pretty well know how you feel. Different countries and not the same situation, but…tedious, lonely, costly, and seldom good news.

It seems the older I get, the rougher the winters get. I know I shouldn’t be knocking myself out shoveling snow anymore. I’m just not as young as I used to be and after a half hour or so I’m overheated and panting from the effort. I have guys who come out with plows and snow blowers and clear my driveway and sidewalks but I still end up having to do some shoveling myself.
They were charging me a hundred dollars per visit but this latest snow set me back $125 and when I looked unhappy, they said they were giving me a big break.
I’m still doing my own taxes but unlike Steve, I have no investment portfolio. It seems I’ve invested all my money in books, pulps and artwork. Not to mention a large dvd library. I’m not complaining. If I had to do it all over again I’d still spend all my money on books and artwork!
But spring training is here and hopefully we have all survived another winter. Play Ball!
