Her voice wasn’t very big but oh, what she could do with it!

She herself was quoted as saying it was “only a thimbleful of a voice,” but standing as close to the microphone as she did, it made her sound as though she were singing only to

If Mel Torme was the ‘velvet fog,’ Julie London was the erotic fog, her voice like fine Scotch. Listening to her sing “Cry Me a River’ or “Bye Bye Blackbird” is an experience it is almost impossible to describe.

Sometime in the ’60s, Julie London did a syndicated special – a one-woman show, with no audience; just Julie singing one song after another.
Lots of smoke and shadows, sexy camera work, lush arrangements (most likely by Bobby Troup)…
I still remember the closing number:
Tight closeup of Julie in smoky shadow as she sings in her slowest, most sexy manner:
“Now it’s time to say goodbye …
“To all our company …
“M-I-C, K-E-Y …
“M-O-U-S-E …”
I guess you had to be there …

I’d love to have been there.
I looked on IMDb, to see what I could find, and I came up with a syndicated series called “An Evening with…” Here’s a description of the show:
“This show started at WGN in Chicago in the spring of 1965. Louis Prima starred in the first show (2/26/65), followed by Dennis Day (3/12/65), Phyllis Diller (3/27/65) and Earl Wrightson & Lois Hunt (4/7/65). The series began national syndication in the fall of 1965, airing weekly, usually on Saturdays. WGN continued to air the show once or twice a month, shows often played nationally months before they aired in Chicago.”
