Morrissey was the lead vocalist for The Smiths, an English rock band formed in 1982. “The Queen Is Dead” was the title track of their third CD, released in 1986. Morrissey’s appearance at the Hollywood Bowl was in June 2007.

I go back and forth with Morrissey. I love the stuff he did with the Smiths and his first solo albums (to me they’re somewhat interchangeable; a lot of times I don’t remember if a song was by the Smiths or by Morrissey alone), but he comes across as utterly insufferable in interviews–like a whining adolescent and not a man of almost 69. I guess I have to stick with the music and not read anything he says.

He’s actually almost 60. Not sure if that was a typo or a Freudian slip. Ooops!
