SELECTED BY JONATHAN LEWIS:
A song from this English rock band’s 1983 LP The Amazing Kamikaze Syndrome. An alternate version was released in the US in 1984 as Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply/ “Run Runaway,” the first track on the latter LP, was the group’s first hit single in the US.

SLADE had absolutely loads of hits in the ’70s, not least the classic rock anthem COME FEEL THE NOISE. In the early ’80s they seem to have attempted to move into more mainstream pop, with some success. One of the great things about SLADE was that although they took their music seriously, they never took themselves seriously. Lead singer Noddy Holder is still a well known personality in the UK, and even something of a national treasure.

Even though this video got played a lot on MTV in the US, Slade’s fame came and went fairly quickly over here. Thanks for the additional info as to who they were over there. From this clip, it’s fairly obvious they had a lot of fun with their music, as you say.

In 1984 I saw Slade live in concert in the San Francisco bay area at the Cow Palace. They were the opening act for Ozzy Osbourne on his Bark at the Moon tour.
