If I had any musical ability and could choose any instrument to play that I wanted, I think I’d pick the saxophone. I don’t, though, none at all, but I’d like to think I’m a good listener.

I’m with you on the saxophone but piano is close behind. Jazz has been my favorite music since the late 1950’s and it’s funny how I’ve progressed from Dixieland, to swing, to bebop, and now avant garde jazz.
John Coltrane is one of my all time favorites and for many years I liked his early and mid-career music the best. I did not like his late venture into free jazz or the avant garde. But I kept listening and now his late music just before his early death is my favorite.

A little of the later Coltrane still goes a log way for me, but I confess I can listen to him now from that era without getting a headache.

Lovely music. I confess I’m a Smooth Jazz fan. WATERCOLORS on Sirius/XM Radio is my go-to station when I’m driving around.
