I’ve been in the hospital the last few days, totally unexpectedly. Seems as though I misdiagnosed what I thought was heartburn for far too long. Turns out it wasn’t. One stent later the guys in the operating room proved it to me. All numbers back to normal now, and I feel good, but if I’d delayed any later, maybe not.

Steve,
Have you measurable blood pressure issues as well?

None that I was aware of, and nothing had been picked up by EKG tests. Everything’s in the normal range now, and I feel fine. I did before, though. I asked the doctor what warning signs I might have missed. He said maybe none. I’m paraphrasing, but he seemed to say, sometimes shit happens.

My wife has two stents. She made a similar mistake. Take your time and get to feeling better.

Take it slow. We earthlings don’t want to lose you.

God to have you back, Steve. Now take care of yourself!

Bounce back quickly, but not too quickly

Here I thought you were just doing another California trip. Glad you are recovering but I guess Pulpfest, August 4-7, is out of the question.
I’ve been trying to prepare myself for the year I can’t make the convention but I can’t imagine such a scene. I guess I better start though! A life without collecting? What a nightmare…

Get well soon Steve!

Thanks for all the advice and good wishes, everyone!
I’m doing well, trying to take it easy and do whatever the doctors tell me to do.
And no, I won’t be going to PulpFest again this year. It was iffy anyway. All this does is make it definite.

And of course no post needs exactly 13 comments.

Yikes, Steve, sorry I missed this before. Glad things seem on an uptick (my father lived another twenty years after his stents were implanted, but, yeah, take the symptoms seriously).
I can see why the recent concern with 13 on a match.

Glad to hear you’re on the mend. I see my internist twice a year. Blood work before each appointment. Diane and I monitor our blood pressure. But, as your doctor inferred, shit does happen.

Saw my PCP this morning. All is well, she says. Her best advice, I think, is to get out walking more. Hard to do, when CT is so muggy this time of year, but I will.
