I’ll be taking a few days off from the blog — an extended weekend, you might say, beginning today. The end of December is always a busy time of the year, and this year is no exception. I’ll be back on Monday or Tuesday, and even then the blog is likely to remain in low maintenance mode until the New Year comes around.
My most sincere best wishes to you and your families: Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Cheers All Around!

Since you will have more time I recommend that you watch the Hammer Film Noir series of dvds. Not as good as the American film noir/crime movies but it’s very interesting to see the different slant that the British took with crime films in the fifties.

Dan’s Holiday Wisdom
When I was a child, Christmas was when I looked forward to getting everything I ever wanted. As I’ve grown older, the things I really want have become more personal or more expensive and in any event, less likely to appear under a Christmas Tree.
At the same time, I find myself thinking more about others: “What can I get for a friend to bring a smile to his face?” or “What can I do for a stranger to help him through the season?”
And as Christmas has become more about giving, and less about getting, it has come to mean much LESS to me. Without the Greed, it’s just not the same.
So let’s try to remember that Christmas should be about getting: I get something from you, you get something from me, the store clerk gets our money and gets something for someone else… it’s all part of the Great Circle of Life.
And Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays to all !!
(Christmas for me, but not for everyone, God knows. *wink*)
And Steve, please enjoy a bit of respite from all the time demands this (wonderful) place puts on you…
