Happy birthday to the blog! Congrats on the stats and thanks for all the great posts.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY !
In German, somebody born at Christmas is a ‘Christkind’, our version of Santa Claus, which means Jesus as a little child.
Well, maybe off topic, great to see this interesting blog succeed on such a broad basis !
Maybe I’m wrong, but when looking through older pages, like 2009 something, there is sometimes a complaint that forgotten authors, who wrote great stuff in their time, are not mentioned in the internet, according to their oneday importance. And when I look, I see THOUSANDS of entrances, so maybe, blogs like this MOVE something.
Congratulations again,
The Doc

Steve, I’m very happy to see the success of the MYSTERY FILE site. I’ve been reading your reviews and comments since the 1970’s in your print magazines and such magazines as THE MYSTERY FANCIER. I hope to continue reading your posts about books, magazines, and movies for many more years.
Happy Birthday!

Congrats, Steve, and here’s to five more years!
I have not a posted a lot on this blog, but regulary log-on to read the reviews of the forgotten works of the genre.

Happy b’day (that’s birthday, not the hygienic device) to my favorite blog.

Steve,
Congratulations!
I always learn so much from MYSTERY*FILE.
It is one of the most informative sites anywhere.

Vive le blog! Congratulations on your long life and popularity. This is certainly one of the most varied, entertaining and informative of all the blogs devoted to crime fiction, movies and TV – both the good ol’ stuff and the brand new.

It was you who warned me on Day One that blogging was addictive. I see that you’re still around too!

Doc
I’m also pleased to see so many sites dedicated in one way or another to obscure authors, whether Golden Age detectives, 50s private eyes or 60 and 70s Eurospies. You could spend hours on the net now reading about old mystery and crime fiction, and not leave time to read any yourself!

You’re one of two people I know who were around to get a copy of MYSTERY*FILE 1 who are still around today. The other is Mike Nevins.
If anyone else reading this is the third, please speak up.
In any case, nearly 40 years is a long, long time. Thanks for coming along for the ride.

Don’t know if five more years is possible, in fact I kind of doubt it. Right now it’s probably best to take it one day at a time, given the age of these old walking boots.
Hope you don’t mind if I give your blog another plug:
http://moonlight-detective.blogspot.com/
and add, likewise I’m sure!

Funny, I never knew that b’day was pronounced that way before!

Any post on this blog that I don’t learn sometime from myself wasn’t worth posting.
And you won’t see it here!

Unfortunately the space this blog gives to new stuff is dwindling, more and more every day. No time, no time!
But with plenty of blogs to cover the new books, I don’t think they’re being neglected. (I’ll bet that if I were an author, though, I might think otherwise. There’s an awful lot of books coming out. How do you get noticed in the middle of a crowd?)
And vive http://prettysinister.blogspot.com/ too!

Congrats, Steve, I, like so many authors, greatly enjoy this site. And I’ll be sending something to the blog soon.

Welcome to the party, Curt! Contributions from you are welcome at any time, but from all the discussion I hear about it, your own blog is going great guns:
http://thepassingtramp.blogspot.com/
and maybe even a good old-fashioned blunt instrument or two, as well…

Curt’s blog “The Passing Tramp” has an interesting three part article on “Raymond Chandler and British Detective Fiction”. Nicely illustrated with photos.
