It took a little longer than expected, but the comments are back. While I probably won’t post anything more tonight, things will be back to normal here by this time tomorrow, if not before.
I don’t know why things happen the way they do, but my daughter Sarah and her husband Mark left for a two week vacation in England on Thursday, and it’s Mark who does the heavy lifting around here: backing up data and doing the repairs. Sure enough, as soon as he got out of the country, bingo! That’s when the blog went down.
It took a few emails back and forth with GoDaddy to solve the problem, but solved it is, and we’re back. Thanks, Mark!
PS. The last comment that was processed correctly was a suggestion made by Paul Herman that The Shadow should be counted as one of the Triple Threat Franchise Players. He is correct:

If you tried to leave a comment anytime after Paul’s, it disappeared into Voodooland. If you’d like to try again, please do.

I’m glad we’re back in working order. I’ve missed it here.
All at the same time, my favorite sports blog (Dodger Thoughts) suspended operation, presumably for good. And another site I treasure pretty much simultaneously went on hiatus because the blogger got married and is on his honeymoon. (What gall! *wink*)
So I have been going through web withdrawal…
As far as I am concerned, I get more intellectual stimulation, leads on what to read, and enjoyment here then anywhere else on the internet.
Thanks for this site, Steve

Thanks, Rick, and an equally big thanks to everyone who’s ever left a comment here. Without the comments, this blog would have only a fraction of whatever value it has. It would have been a huge, huge loss if they’d disappeared forever, and I’m glad it didn’t happen. I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating. I wouldn’t keep this blog going if I weren’t learning something from it every day.

Welcome back Steve. I’ve made many a comment on MYSTERY FILE over the years and I shudder at the thought of not being able to post additional comments. Sometimes the comments are even more interesting than the original posting.

I consider the comments part of my post. The post gives you the basic, but I use the comments to expand on the subject and take advantage of other’s point of views and knowledge.
I have the comments on my RSS feed. That means whenever anyone comments on any post it is sent to my gmail reader (it works for others such as yahoo).
People still comment on posts that are over five years old. Family members of the writer discussed. Twice, Mike Doran and I have updated a post.
Most comment sections of internet sites are not worth reading, but here the comment section is just as important to read as the posts.

For those of you who might be interested, here are the stats:
This blog began on 26 December 2006. Since then there have been 3,446 Posts in 49 Categories.
There have been 15,712 Approved Comments on these Posts.
There have also been 2,619,837 spam comments, with 1,650 comments in my spam queue right now, waiting to be Approved. They won’t.
What the purpose of sending spam comments to anyone’s blog might be, I don’t know, but somehow it’s a big business. (I was tempted to show you some, but I won’t.)

Welcome back. I always check this blog each morning even if I don’t recognize the authors or movies or know what the heck you are talking about. I live in a different world.

All in a day’s plan, Randy. I always keep you in mind.

About time you got back to work! I don’t know how you think you can get away with these B—S— excuses, but your fans won’t put up with it forever!
