I’m posting this from my cell phone. I had the hard drive from my laptop replaced last week which was fine but I’m still trying to get all the associated hardware working in sync again.
I had to take it back to the PC repair shop today since the touchpad was interfering with the mouse, making the cursor jump all over the place. Disabling the touchpad is supposed to be easy. Except on a few select Dell models.
Guess whose model was selected?
No prizes for guessing right.

Sorry Steve. I know how exasperating continuing computer woes can be.

This is hardly unexpected news, but when I learned of his passing last night, I was greatly saddened.
Here’s the link to the note I posted when I heard he was entering hospice care:

We were often in touch over the past 40 years, first by letter then by email. but I am so very sorry that I was able to meet him in person only the one time.

It’s been a time-consuming struggle, the details of which I won’t bore you with, but with just a few more downloads and other minor (?) tweaking, this blog should be online again soon qMaybe as early as this evening, but we’ll see. Stuff like this simply wears me out.

“This is Dan Stumpf, reporting from the outside world as an anxious public gathers at their computer screens, awaiting the return of Steve Lewis’ Mystery File to the ‘net. There’s palpable tension in the air here folks. These people are used to getting MF on a regular basis and… Wait! I think I see movement on the screen! Wait right there on the edge of your chairs while I check this out…..”

I hope you weren’t just sitting there at your computer all this time!

I just told someone you were still having problems. Shucks! I should have checked first.

I’m not out of the woods yet. There’s quite a bit of software I used to have that’s not been installed yet. The major one is WordPerfect. I have Word and can use it, but WP is far easier for me to use.
I also need a new photoshop program. Most that are available are almost useless. They try to do too much, most of which I don’t need and never will, and it’s too difficult to do the simple things, such as crop images and add borders.
Suggestions?
