Back in the late 1800s, or so, as the narrator of this film tells us, the Oklahoma panhandle was a land of without law, where gangs of gunslingers congregated and ruled the towns they lived in. Enter Randolph Scott, a lawman in search of his brother, facing every outlaw in the West.
I messed up on this one. I watched a 98-minute movie crammed into a 90-minute time slot, less commercials. The plot is there. Little things like motivations are not. Maybe there weren’t any, but who could tell? A full report some other time, perhaps.

Sorry, gents. Looks like the best I can do is watch this on Amazon Prime, after paying $2.99 to see it. Who remembers the movie? Is it worth the money?

Very entertaining B almost A-minus Western. Love these RKO “Badman” movies, the cowboy counterpart of the Universal monster jams like HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN.

Hey Fred,
Badman’s territory is NOT a B. B’s are classified by both budget (less than $350,000) and the manner in which they are sold: that means B films are sold to theatres on a pre-set dollar figure; A films go out for a piece of the gate. Most of Randolph Scott’s films are A-plus. No matter what some stupid non-professional writes.

Tierney is a bit more intense than you expect in a Western of the era. This is pretty good though and Tim Whelan handles it well. You can’t usually miss with Randolph Scott.

Older westerns like this are always interesting because the appeal often comes from cast, pacing, and atmosphere as much as the story. I help with DVDWholesaleShop, and classic western reviews are useful for seeing what still holds up.
