Why do people say “no offense†right before they’re about to offend you?
Basically, “no offense” is a vaccination strategy. It protects the insulter from your ire because you’ve been warned that the offense is coming.
Of course, there’s research that shows that when some starts off a statement with “Frankly…” they’re probably bending the Truth or telling a lie.
Gotta keep those researchers busy!
Probably because they are both weak and have been made to feel guilty. Just tell the truth as you see it, and move along. If not, who cares.
Good advice, Barry. Good advice.
